Is the iPhone Weather Gnome in Cahoots with the City of Thousand Oaks?
Contrary to popular opinion, anyone who knows the Los Angeles area knows that the weather is NOT always perfect. Some places it’s really perfect and other places it’s just a shade under or over perfect. And we are weather competitive! The famously hot places (San Fernando Valley) are thought of as less desirable, the famously cool locales (Santa Monica, Malibu, West LA) more. Several months ago I started noticing certain Wikipedia entries for LA/Ventura County line areas claiming to be up to 10 degrees cooler than neighboring San Fernando Valley (possible, but also debatable). Check your iPhone, though. If you believe the iPhone weather gnome, it’s even better than that…we’re 10 degrees cooler than ourselves! My iPhone said T.O. was 73 degrees at the time this picture was taken. Anaheim is another So Cal community that looks suspiciously low, according to my iPhone. Is Mickey and the Conejo Valley marketing people engaged in weather reporting payola? Just kidding! Has to be some scientific/technological/meteorological explanation, right?
