Simple Spring Table Setting
Bring the fresh look of spring to your table with these easy ideas. Easter has always been the time to take out my Grandma’s floral china. This year I wanted a modern table but didn’t want to purchase anything. So I used my everyday dishes with the salad plate from Grandma. I chose one color to use, yellow. The daffodils came from Trader Joe’s for $1.29 a bunch. I picked up a few chicks from Cost Plus for $2.00 each and the candle holders are Grandma’s crocheted place mats wrapped around old glass vases.
1. My inspiration for the candle holders came from fashion. My daughter wears dresses and tops with crocheted details. She sewed an old lace hankie on the back of her military jacket, so cool.
2. It’s so easy to make a lace candle holder. Measure around the glass vase to get the size of the sleeve. They are stretchy so it doesn’t have to be exact. Sew some thread through the holes with a needle to create a tube. Slide it on the glass vase. It’s so fast and when you are done, you just pull out the thread and you have your place mat in perfect condition!
3. This is a hard boiled egg place holder sitting in a raffia nest.
4. I used Martha Stewart’s rub on letters to put the guest’s initial on the egg.
5. All the napkins are bundled with crocheted napkin rings that cost 25 cents at a garage sale.
As you can see, I have been wrapping everything I find in crocheted doilies and place mats. They look great at night, too.
