Brian Alexander is a journalist in Southern California who writes on a variety of subjects, from people chasing the fountain of youth for Los Angeles Times magazine to home repairs for Real Simple. Brian is the author of America Unzipped. He blogs about his MSNBC Sexploration column for Exurb.
Dennis Bakkenson, a licensed contractor in building, engineering, electrical and plumbing for more than 20 years, is extremely active in the green building industry in NW LA/Ventura County. Dennis contributes to Den Time, a home improvement column.

Greg Clarke is an illustrator extraordinaire. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Time, Rolling Stone and elsewhere. Someday, not far off, he will contribute a cartoon to Exurb. For now, Greg is using Wine Picks as a great excuse to fall off the wagon. Just kidding. He’s never been on the wagon. Journalist and novelist Victoria Clayton’s work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Times magazine, Self, Redbook, Prevention and elsewhere. She’s the former Growing Up Healthy columnist for MSNBC and the coauthor of Fearless Pregnancy. She’s also Exurb’s founding contributor. Victoria contributes to books, travel and feature interviews.
Maryann Hammers is a freelance writer who has written for The Los Angeles Times, Sunset magazine, Self, 805 Living and many
other publications. She’s also the former editor-in-chief of Spa Magazine. But, mainly, she’s an animal lover. Maryann’s Animal Sense blog covers our four-legged friends — and the flying ones and swimming ones too.
A 30-year veteran of the ministry, Pastor Brad Johnson has a master’s degree in counseling and a PhD in theology. Pastor Brad contributes Fresh Faith,a Sunday blog about faith and challenges.
Super cartoonist/mom Jodie Sarah Masiwchuk draws and writes Suburban Sarah, a comic that appears on Exurb and in several newspapers. “I find that there are many mothers like my main character, Sarah–college educated, smart, funny, and looking for a certain amount of support and camaraderie when it comes to raising a child, being a woman and getting older,” says Masiwchuk, who worked as a graphic artist before developing her comic. Victoria Abbott Riccardi is a food and travel writer. VAR, as we like to call her, has written for Bon Appetit, Cooking Light, Eating Well, Shape Cooks and many more publications. She’s also the author of Untangling My Chopsticks. For Exurb, she’s the one and only Curious Peanut! VAR blogs on food, drink and the curious life of a food writer. She will, someday, also write about peanuts (or maybe other nuts).
